FAQ
Questions you might be asking.
Is this a dating app?
No. We don't use the word and we don't operate the way one does. There is no swipe, no feed, no chat, no comparing of options. Once a month, we suggest one person to meet for one coffee. That's it.
How is it actually anonymous?
Front-end: you have a code name from a curated dictionary — Cedar, Lyra, Wren, Slate. No first names, no photos, no profiles. Back-end: we verify identity at signup with passport or driving licence — held in escrow, never shown to anyone, used only to prevent serial bad actors from rejoining under a new name. The match notification gives you a code name, a paragraph of why, and a meeting suggestion.
How often do I get matched?
At most once a month. Often less. If we don't have anyone we genuinely believe in for you, we wait. Scarcity is the product.
What does it cost?
The London beta is free. Once we exit beta, $10 per month or $100 per year. Cancel anytime. There is no premium tier. There are no upsells.
Why London first?
Because the brand needs a critical mass of like-minded people in a single city to work. We will saturate London before considering anywhere else. We expect this to take time. We are patient.
I don't live in London. Can I sign up?
Leave your email on the home page and tell us your city. We're starting in London but will expand by city, slowly. Each new city is its own cohort.
What happens after the coffee?
You leave at the end with no obligation. The next morning, the app asks each of you privately: would you like to continue? If you both say yes, you exchange first names and a way to reach each other — outside the app. If one says no, both exit cleanly. Crucially, neither of you knows who said no. Symmetric face-saving.
How long is the questionnaire?
Five sessions, about ten minutes each. Save and resume between them. Total: roughly an hour. You can take a week.
Why so many questions?
Psychometric research tells us that around seventy well-chosen items reach 99% reliability in personality and compatibility profiling. Below that, the matching is a guess. Above that, the marginal value drops sharply and people drop out. Seventy is the sweet spot.
What do you do with my data?
Your answers are used only to match you. We do not sell, share, or analyse your data for advertising. ID-verification documents are encrypted at rest and accessible only to a single trusted operator at Ivora. We will publish a full data-handling policy before the public launch.
Is this for marriage specifically?
It's for people seriously seeking a long-term partner. Marriage is one form of that; not the only one. We don't ask you to declare a wedding intent — we ask you to declare a serious-relationship intent.
Are you LGBTQ+ inclusive?
Yes. The questionnaire and matching logic are gender-invariant. You declare who you'd like to meet (men, women, both, others) and we match within your declared pool.
Why is it called Ivora?
Because we wanted it to feel like a friend's name. Ivora introduced us. That's the entire premise.
